Artifacts Gallery plays an important role in the local Indianapolis community by connecting art lovers with art makers. Artifacts was co-founded by Ann Kaplan and her dear friend Dotty, both originally East-Coasters who had landed in the Midwest. Their passion was arts, crafts, and connecting people with beautiful handcrafted objects.

The handmade movement was in full effect, and so Artifacts Gallery was born in Ann’s living room. She became involved in craft councils, juried art fairs, created an investment group, befriended artists, and lobbied local government to protect small businesses. Artifacts quickly took roots in Broad Ripple, and Ann established herself as a valued member of the local business community.

Ann’s daughter Jeannie grew up in the shop, meeting all the loyal customers and artists, and learning the trade. She went on to attend art school and with the same artistic soul and love of craft as her Mom, in 2017 Jeannie officially took over Artifacts Gallery. Since then, she has carried on in the same spirit of community by providing artists and designers with a showcase worthy of their wares.

We welcome you to Artifacts and invite you to browse our collections.
